about us Our missionThe Journal of Family Health Care believes that all children and families should receive consistently high levels of patient care. Our mission, therefore, is to educate and inspire all community family health professionals, helping them to achieve best practice standards with in-depth, peer-reviewed and accessible articles emphasising the practical delivery of care. Our storyIn 2015, the Journal of Family Health Care celebrates fifty years of championing a unique interdisciplinary approach to the professional care of mothers, babies and children.Midwife & Health Visitor first launched in 1965, expanding its focus ten years later to become Midwife, Health Visitor & Community Nurse. In 1991 the journal was relaunched as Professional Care of Mother & Child, emphasising its inclusive approach to the common goals of all those involved in family health care.During the nineties our front covers carried the tagline The Journal of Family Health Care. Eventually it was decided that this tagline itself best encapsulated the editorial board’s vision for its readers, and this officially became the title from the first issue of 2002. We also invited readers to ‘visit our internet website’.Over the years, the journal has expanded its coverage to include the care of older children and has produced regular supplements reflecting this. In 2014 our fully-fledged sister title The Journal of School Health was launched, in association with SAPHNA (the School & Public Health Nurses Association). Our focus today is on bringing family health professionals the same high quality features, news and insight in a new format. In 2014 we also went green, launching full digital versions of the journal to read on your desktop pc, tablet or mobile device. We’re now proud to offer complimentary digital subscriptions to professionals working in the field of family health.
