Videos of children being sexually abused online are on "more violent and younger" than ever before, according to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection centre.
Director Peter Davies told MPs yesterday [15 Oct] that 80% of indecent images on the internet show children aged 10 or under being assaulted. More than half of this material is of 'serious abuse' such as rape.
"Regrettably, there are more images now than when you started sitting this morning," Davies told a select committee on Culture, Media and Sport.
"We check trends in images and our experience recently is that victims appear to be getting younger and the levels of abuse worse."
CEOP estimates that 50,000 people in the UK are currently in possession of indecent images of children.
