FASDThe temptations of drugs and alcohol are a constant worry for parents with teenagers. So in an effort to reduce the risk of adolescents abusing such substances, the charity Investing in Children has introduced a multi-media substance abuse prevention programme.

Guiding Good Choices, which is aimed at parents with children aged between nine and 14, will focus on equipping people with the necessary skills and knowledge, so their children are less likely to be tempted by their peer group.

The two-hour weekly sessions will focus on risk and protective factors, such as the impact of family conflict and neglectful parenting, as well as how to learn refusal skills and the benefit of pro-social parental involvement.
