The Service has strong links with the Young People’s centre and The Academic Department of Adolescent Psychiatry. The service has recently been successful in securing funding to develop a two day a week North Mersey satellite Clinic for young people and families living within the North Mersey Region to increase access to the specialist assessment and treatment service. As part of this development we are seeking to appoint an experienced Family Therapist to work three days a week within the expanded multidisciplinary team. The post holder will be based in Liverpool although one day will be spent within the Chester base ensuring family work is available to families across the region. The post holder will participate in the delivery of specialist inpatient and outpatient interventions to improve the health outcomes for adolescents who present with eating disorders. The post holder will be an experienced and skilled family therapist and will be required to take a lead role in the development of specialist interventions for adolescents who present with eating disorders. In conjunction with the multi-disciplinary Team the post holder will provide assessment and treatment interventions and specialist advice to parents / carers and professionals in the management of eating disorders. The post holder will lead in establishing therapeutic programs within family therapy and develop innovative approaches to practice which are shown by evidence to improve outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity to develop family and systemic work within a specialist setting and to be part of the development of an evidenced based Service. There is a strong commitment to professional development through Individual Personal Development Plans and the provision of individual supervision. Key Skills Applicants should possess a Post-graduate/ doctoral level qualification in family and systemic psychotherapy. They will have experience in the delivery of this therapeutic approach within a mental health setting. Experience of working with young people and their families / carers with eating disorders within a specialist setting is desirable, but not essential. Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner within an outpatient multi-disciplinary team is essential.
