A new organisation dedicated to promoting and protecting women’s rights in childbirth is set to launch.
From 24 January, Birthrights will seek to advance the dignity, privacy and autonomy of all child-bearing women.
The charitable organisation aim to provide "easily accessible and accurate legal information on all aspects of childbirth".
It is founded by human rights barrister Elizabeth Prochaska, who has advised leading childbirth organisations, mothers and birth professionals on maternal rights in the UK and abroad
According to Prochaska, "Birthrights will campaigns on respect for women’s rights in childbirth as fundamental human rights that maternity-service providers are legally obliged to respect and fulfil."
It will also offer advice and assistance to caregivers, professional or otherwise, who face sanctions for supporting women’s rights.
