pavilionLeading school nurse association SAPHNA will be working with Pavilion Publishing and Media with immediate effect, it announced today [28 Feb].

The publishing and events company will produce a new title for SAPHNA called the Journal of School & Public Health Nursing six times a year. The first issue will be published in May 2013.

Pavilion will also organise SAPHNA's conference in 2014, and will take over responsibility for the SAPHNA website.

SAPHNA – the School and Public Health Nurses Association – was launched in January 2006 by a group of experienced and motivated professionals passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families.

SAPHNA's Professional Officer, Sharon White, said of today's announcement: "This new partnership poses great opportunity for SAPHNA to further expand its work in driving forward the school nursing profession and, more importantly, improving the health outcomes of children and young people.

"Launching our own journal will ensure it is focussed on the needs of our members, providing them with the knowledge, research, evidence and tools to deliver excellent care."

Journal of Family Health Care editor Penny Hosie said: "Pavilion is delighted to be working with SAPHNA. We have long admired SAPHNA’s commitment for improving the working lives of school nurses.

“We see the new Journal of School and Public Health Nursing to be the perfect sister title to the Journal of Family Health Care. I look forward to producing quality and highly readable publications, which will inspire, inform and educate school nurses on a host of issues relevant to them."
